“Mr. Gutkin is a golf teaching genius who like great teachers of piano or ballet have the ability to impart their knowledge with enthusiasm and extreme effectiveness. Mr. Gutkin is like a Zen master. He knows the way and makes it fun.” -- Stanley Taub, M.D.
“Finally a teacher who believes in positive reinforcement rather than negative critique. Robert breaks the golf game down to easy, digestible pieces and then guides you to trust what you've learned when you’re hitting the ball.. My game improved instantly, and I’m enjoying it more” --Myrna Socal, Executive Coach , Socal Associates
“Over the years (79 of them ), I’ve taken lessons with other Pros. They stressed the mechanics, but Rob’s more thought-provoking approach proved far more satisfying. Even before I hit a ball, Rob asked a very surprising and important question. “What was the objective of my lessons?” It seemed obvious to me—to improve my golf game." “Let's get more specific,” he persisted. So digging into my brain, I said “to hit more balls solidly and have more fun.” We worked on a system devised by Rob to achieve the first goal and quite quickly the second goal followed naturally. Golf became a real pleasure, like magic-what a wonderful surprise." --Bob Cocrane, Retired Advertising & Marketing Executive
Dear Rob, February 7, 2002 "You did a spectacular job on my Dutra 3 wood. It looks brand
new-much better than before. In fact, it is so good that I believe you are
right. I should retire it. It is too good to use, especially the way I
play. Thanks also for the interesting article about Olin Dutra - sounds like he had a real match."
Dear Rob,
10/3/02
I enjoyed my golf lesson when I was a guest at the Mohonk Mountain
House recently. Your explanations of the swing mechanics helped me to
visualize the process and put it into action. I learned more in our one hour
lesson than I did in many previous lessons and your philosophy of confidence
and fun helped put the game in proper perspective. I hope to be able to take
lessons with you in the future. Sincerely ,
Marvin Meyers, Retired School Teacher - Mountain House Guest

Ode to A Golf Instructor
One suggestion was golf… would
that be the one?
We all agreed that it might be fun.
So off we did go to the driving
range
Before we could find out that our
minds had been changed.
Our instructor, Rob, so expertly
told,
How the mystery of golf would shortly unfold.
With mathematical language he explained the swing.
He even drew pictures so we would
remember each thing.
Then we tried and we missed and we tried it once more.
And we kept swinging clubs until
our muscles were sore.
But little by little we noticed improvement,
With each little swing and each thoughtful movement.
We found that we liked it, no… we were obsessed!
Three math teachers playing golf… who would have guessed?
So to thank our teacher, this gift we did buy,
To remember us always and never forget pi!
